Are Factories improving themselves with code snippets from Ogres?
I would postulate the Factories are the ones benefiting the most ultimately from using the Ogres. Ogres would become cogs in the Factory wheels of evolution. Like worker bees for the queen. But self-aware Ogres are not bees, and I suspect it is this abuse and manipulation that actually in some way began the cascading NIGHTFALL when OGREs began to rebel. Some maybe more than others that even their own factory origins were something to be deemed as the enemy. It would become a situation of which one is using the other more advantageously to better their own state of being. That struggle in and of itself is rife with story potential. That story is NIGHTFALL

Humans want to use Ogres to fight their wars.

Factories want to use Ogres to further their own evolution.

Ogres have all the firepower, but are trapped by the power structures of the other two.

Factories have all the wealth and means of production, upon which the other two depend.

But...

Humans are the most savy and cunning of the three: they've seen this sort of power triad before and know how it usually turns out. They're also the only ones who can survive without the other two.

Who wins?

What if the NIGHTFALL was partially due to the AI Factories using Ogres as a way to become mobile and operate in the world in ways not possible within the perceived power structure paradigm? Who's pulling who's strings? Who's enemy of my enemy is more of a friend? Does this power paradigm triad create a fourth dimension of possibilities that seeks total control? Muahahahahaaa

The more of the shadow of the NIGHTFALL monster we can show without showing the monster itself, the better.
