Is 800-pound gorilla considered an hireling? Do cards played against/in favor of hirelings works for it?

Yes, the 800 Pound Gorilla Hireling counts as a Hireling and is affected by things that would affect Hirelings.

The numbered cards are meant to be effects you can use when you are the same level as the number on the card. The gorilla card does not say it is a hireling.

it doesn't say it is an hireling but it looks a lot like an hireling and is not a simple effect that lasts one level. Anyway happy to know it is an hireling, another one to add to my collection

another question would be, does it count against the hireling limit?

1) if i have already an hireling at level 8, can I keep it when i go to level 9 or 7 or below?

2) if i have this hireling in play, can I play another hireling?

The way I understand those cards is you use the effect on the card that has the number of your level at the bottom. It is not really one of your equipped/carried cards.

gorilla is an exception, there is written you can keep it after you gain a level and keep it with your "treasures"
