Re: How Do Summoned Beings and Illusions Appear in Your Game?
Everyone knows Summoned creates appear to the tune of the GunsN'Roses intro to "Welcome to the Jungle".

I must agree with those who make this the magic user's decision. If spectacular crisis intervention is required then make with the light show, smoke and sound effects. If sneakiness is more important, let the dim beast seep slowly out of a well of shadow. Of course, if it is the DM's illusion, anything goes!

Re: How Do Summoned Beings and Illusions Appear in Your Game?
No arguments there; it is up to whoever is controlling the character casting the spell. The question that is the subject of the thread is meant to encourage players to add some colour to their playing instead of, "I cast an illusion of a Myrmidon here."
