Question about cone area weapons
I happened to be looking through Ultra Tech and encountered a notation I cannot find the explanation for. If someone can either explain or point me towards the place where they *do* explain it I would appreciate it.
We are in a situation where I need to pull a better gun out of my pocket via Gizmo. Something relatively short range with an area effect (but NOT Burning - the enemies feed on heat) and screamer pistol seems to fit the need very nicely. My question is this: Screamer Pistol lists it's damage as '3d cor (1 yd)'. Am I reading this properly when I assume it spreads one yard per yard of progression? The weapon tables never specifically state what that (1 yd) means as far as I have found tonight. |

Re: Question about cone area weapons
IAFMB, but I believe that notation means that the Cone is one yard wide at maximum range.

Re: Question about cone area weapons
A cone has the listed width at the extreme of its range.
That's from somewhere in the basic set, probably in the section on enhancements to innate attacks.

Re: Question about cone area weapons
My copy of GURPS Ultra-Tech footnotes every cone weapon on p. 113 with "Projects a cone with the specified width at maximum range." This is left implicit on later tables. Cone Attacks (p. B413) spells out that the listed width is always the maximum, at maximum range, and explains how to find width at smaller ranges.
