Default [3e] 2 French Trucks

Berliet GBU 15 6x6 Truck (TL7)
From 1959 to the mid-1980s, the GBU 15 was the standard 6x6 truck of the French army. The cab featured four doors and a canvas cover. The open bed could carry up to 10 tons of cargo or 38 passengers. The truck was able to use a variety of fuels, including petrol, paraffin, JP4, gas oil, light fuel and mineral or vegetable oils.
The VLRA has a crew of 1 driver. It burns 4.8 gallons of fuel per hour. Range is 497 miles; fording depth is 3 feet.

Subassemblies: Body +5, six Off-Road wheels +2.
Powertrain: 160-kW All-Wheeled drivetrain with 160-kW multi-fuel Ceramic engine, 8,000-kWs lead acid battery.
Fuel: 105.6 gallons diesel in Standard fuel tank (Fire 9).
Occupancy: 1 NCS, 3 NPS, +/- 38 XNPS.
Cargo: 500 cf (open) or passengers.

The design uses a TL8 Ceramic engine, as there are no other multi-fuel engines available at TL7. A standard TL7 Turbo Diesel engine would require twice the volume, cost and weight, and burn 5.6 gph.

Variants:
Some common variants of the GBU 15 included a artillery tractor (towing the 155mm Model 1950 howitzer), a fuel tanker, and a recovery vehicle.

Can anybody tell me what I should have used as a TL7 multi-fuel engine?

ACMAT VLRA 4x4 (TL7)
Designed by Ateliers de Construction Mecanique de L'Atlantique, the VLRA (Vehicule de Liaison, de Reconnaisance et d'Appui) was meant to be a low-cost, simple, and rugged cost country vehicle. In business since 1958, ACMAT's vehicles share over 80% of their parts in common, including vehicles built 30 years ago, making the logistics of maintenance, upkeep, and parts availability as simple as possible. Initially targeted at African and Asian countries with limited budgets, the AMCAT VLRA has been exported to over 30 countries (and used domestically as well). It is used by many French fire brigades due to its low cost and 4WD capabilities.
The VLRA is typically unarmored and unarmed, but can mount a 7.62mm or 12.7mm MG for vehicle defense. Larger offensive weapons can include a 60mm mortar or twin 20mm AA cannon.
The VLRA has a crew of 1 driver. It burns 3.8 gallons of diesel per hour. Range is 1,000 miles; fording depth is 3 feet.

Subassemblies: Body +3, four Off-Road wheels +1.
Powertrain: 108-kW All-Wheeled drivetrain with 108-kW Turbo Diesel engine, 8,000-kWs lead acid battery.
Fuel: 46.2 gallons diesel in Standard fuel tank (Fire 9).
Occupancy: 1 XNCS, 1 XNPS, +/- 14 XNPS.
Cargo: 210 cf (open) or passengers.

Armor
All: 3/15

Equipment:
Body: Short-range radio (3-mile); 52.8-gallon potable water tank; 3-ton winch; 20-ton hitch; ragtop for all seats/cargo.

Statistics:
Size: 20'x7'x6' Payload: 1.94 tons Lwt.: 7.48 tons
Volume: 360 cf. Maint.: 97 hours Price: $42,874

HT: 12. HPs: 807 Body, 138 each Wheel.

gSpeed: 62 gAccel: 3 gDecel: 10 gMR: 1 gSR: 4
Ground Pressure High. ¼ Off-Road speed.

Design Notes:
Body is 300 cf; wheels are 60 cf. Structure is Heavy, Cheap. It has Improved Suspension. Armor is Cheap Metal. Mechanical controls. Empty weight is 10,007 lbs. Design gSpeed was 61 mph; the historical value is listed above.

Variants:
There are literally dozens of variants. Options include a 6x6 version, and a long- and short- version of the 4x4 chassis. Roles for the vehicle include a 12-man transport, general purpose transport, long range patrol vehicle, multiple rocket launcher carrier, an armoured variant, 2,500-liter tanker, radio command post, light recovery duty vehicle, troop carrier, ambulance, 2.5-ton "gunship" truck, a 24 to 34 passenger bus, and a workshop vehicle.
Before 2004, the VLRA featured a 89.5-kW diesel engine.

And an IFV:

AMX-10P (TL7)
Plan to replace the AMX-VCI began in 1965, and the resulting AMX-10P first entered production in 1973. Unlike its predecessor, the -10P is a fully amphibious infantry fighting vehicle, propelled by water jets while in the water. It mounts a 20mm automatic cannon with a coaxial 7.62mm machine gun in a fully rotating turret. Unfortunately, neither weapon is stabilized for use on the move. Armor is light-weight aluminum, and although the -10P can withstand a 23mm API round from the front, the rest of the vehicle is only impervious to small arms fire and fragmentation.
The vehicle is in service with the French Army, and has been exported to Greece, Indonesia, Bosnia, Herzegovia, Morocco, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, and the United Arab Emirates. While Greece and Singapore of since retired the -10P, France is currently (in 2006 and 2008) upgrading their vehicles with add-on armor, new suspensions, and improved gear boxes. Nevertheless, the AMX-10P is still being phased out in preference for the VBCI.
The AMX-10P carries a crew of 3. It also carries 8 soldiers who exit through rear doors or hatches in the roof. It burns 7.2 gallons of diesel per hour. It can cross a 2' vertical obstacle and a 5' trench.

Subassemblies: Body with 60-degree frontal slope +4, full-rotation Turret [Body:T] +1, two Tracks +3.
Powertrain: 206-kW Tracked drivetrain with 206-kW Supercharged Diesel engine and two 103-kW Waterjets; 8,000-kWs lead acid battery.
Fuel: 139.4 gallons diesel in Standard fuel tank (Fire 9).
Occupancy: 3 NCS, 8 NPS.
Cargo: 7 cf.

Armor
Body:F: 6/125
All Else: 4/20

Weaponry:
20mm AC/GIAT M693 [Turret:F] (800 rounds SAPHE).
7.62mm coaxial MG [Turret:F] (2,000 rounds solid).

Equipment:
Body: Medium-range radio with scrambler; 6x LLTV, compact fire suppression system, 1-mile searchlight, 2 decoy dischargers with 8 reloads, 64-ton hitch, 11-man NBC kit.

Statistics:
Size: 19'x9'x8.5' Payload: 1.85 tons Lwt.: 15.62 tons
Volume: 990 cf. Maint.: 36 hours Price: $315,360

HT: 12. HPs: 2562 Body, 180 Turret, 912 each Track.

gSpeed: 40 gAccel: 3 gDecel: 20 gMR: 0.25 gSR: 6
Ground Pressure Very Low. 4/5 Off-Road speed.
wSpeed: 5 wAccel: 0.1 wDecel: 25 wMR: 0.25 wSR: 4
Draft: 2'. Flotation Rating: 37,500 lbs.

Design Notes:
Body is 600 cf; tracks are 360 cf, turret is 11 cf. Structure is Extra-Heavy, Cheap, and Sealed. Armor is Expensive Metal (aluminum). Mechanical controls. Design loaded weight was increased 5% to the real-world value. Design empty weight is 26,158 lbs. Design gSpeed and wSpeed were 44 mph and 8 mph, respectively. The real-world values are shown above.
Updated versions would add an Improved Suspension, increasing gSpeed by 4 mph, gMR by 1, and gSR by 1, at a cost of $30,400.

Variants:
The AMX-10P/Milan carries two launchers with 10 MILAN missiles. The AMX/HOT carried the Toucan II turret with four HOT missile launchers.
The AMX-10 TM tows a 120mm RT-61 mortar.
The AMX-10 PAC 90 features the 90mm GIAT tank gun.
The AMX-10P Marine is an improved amphibious variant with a 12.7mm HMG, 25mm cannon, or 90mm main gun.
The AMX-10 PC is a command variant with additional communications equipment.
The AMX-10 ECH is a repair vehicle with a one-man turret and a hydraulic crane.
The AMX-10 RC is a 6x6 wheeled fire support vehicle with a 105mm gun.
The AMX-10 can also function as an ambulance, radar carrier for artillery fire (mounted on the roof), artillery observation vehicle, artillery survey vehicle, and a training vehicle (with no turret).
