It encourages players to roleplay their disadvantages instead of hoping that they'll manage to NOT do whatever it was they got points for promising to occasionally do.
Just checked back on this thread: this above is a nice one (cut/paste/save). I will suggest it as possible next campaign.

I don't have any specific links, and it's hard to google for it. I've seen it come up in the Forums here more than a few times, hopefully someone else remembers a thread!

For extra bonus value, combine ST and HT, AND split IQ into IQ and Per/Will. Then you have two physical stats, and three mental ones. Possibly two mental stats if you decide to combine Per and Will with some sort of "social" stat and a dash of magic. Then you get the Thinky mental stat (IQ) and the Mystic mental stat (all the other stuff) and can probably charge 20 pts/level for all 4 new stats.

Buy up and down per and will from your new stat as you currently do from IQ. Buy up and down HP and FP from Body as you currently do from ST/HT. *waves hands around vaguely*

Apparently it was a mashup of houserules Mailanka and Bookman use, I've linked their relevant posts in my OP.

Why was this thread tagged FAQ and does everybody think it should stay so?

People frequently ask for some of those House Rules, especially Reverend Pee Kitty's. A link in the FAQ could be argued to more appropriate though.

It makes the FAQ tag text larger though. heh.
