Magic, ordered from Amazon.co.uk arrived today, and it's excellent. I tried just one at first, because UK operations of US companies sometimes cut corners, but that hasn't happened.

The cover is full-colour, the same as the original Magic hardcover apart from the edition information. The binding is glued, but not subtly, it seems solid. The boards are a little more flexible than classic 3e softcovers, but OK. The pages are on about 90gsm matt paper, and the text is extremely crisp, actually clearer than the original hardcover.

Overall, an excellent job. Please do more of these.

Do you get the impression that the covers will curl back over time? That's my one gripe with most softcovers.

You live in a humid part of NJ?

I don't know, since I've only had it a few days. Of my 3e softcovers, a few curled, but most did not.

Yes - coastline - though that's not really relevant, as it happens. I've only lived here for a few months. Before that...Georgia for 15 years. The humidity capital of the world, some days. So perhaps that had a lot to do with it!

Thaumatology and Ultra-Tech arrived today, also ordered from Amazon.co.uk. These were printed in Poland, rather than Great Britain (there's a note on the rear endpaper). The Polish print quality is identical to the British.

Amazon is probably big enough they can have local printing places in multiple countries to reduce shipping and tariff costs.

This is great news! I will definitely be ordering Ultra-Tech and Magic. (I have Thaumatology in hardcover already.)

It's looking like there's going to be a lot of GURPS in my future, with DFRPG, Discworld, Mars Attacks, and a couple other purchases to backfill my GURPS library. I wish you had chosen Bio-Tech instead of Thaumatology, lol. :)

I do wish there was the option of hardcovers (at least B&W hardcovers, although color would be great, too.) For stuff like this that's gone OOP and isn't available in the secondary market for less than $100, I would totally be willing to pay $60 for a nice HC. For $80-90, I can buy a PDF and have it printed in color through Lulu (without any of their promo discounts) myself, so I would say that's basically the upper bound of what I'd be willing to spend.

This is good news. I look forward to finding out what the next three titles are.
