Quick Draw rolls are already at -2.

So if the GM allows it, it would require a roll at adjDX -2 to draw the first weapon. Failure means the weapon isn't readied and the action is wasted. Critical failure also means the weapon falls in a random adjacent hex.

Then the figure would need to roll to quick-draw the second weapon (assuming they have Quick Draw for both and Two Weapons), and yeah the GM might apply the -4 DX for the second weapon, which would make it a total -6 DX. Or not - maybe just -2, up to the GM. Same effects for missed or crit fail rolls.

Being a long time fan of a two-fisted fighter, I'm ok with the -6 to successfully draw the offhand weapon on the same round as a failed primary draw.

What I'm not entirely comfortable with is the mandatory dropped weapon scenario.

We are talking about a professional fighter here, proficient with his weapon of choice, and so practiced with it, that he possesses the quick draw skill for it.

I would think that on a successful roll, he readies it especially quickly, on a failed roll of ANY type he readies it within the normal amount of time.

What mandatory drop weapon? The rule as written is that only a critical failure drops the weapon.

That IS what I am referring to, by being proficient, and even being super proficient to even attempt a Draw & Strike maneuver that is Not avail. to the average swordsman, I am increasing my odds of dropping my weapon by utilizing my higher developed skill. I have the opportunity to drop on the draw, and to drop when striking.

I just think that buying into skillsets, shouldn't equal buying into additional drop weapon penalties.

I would just roll to see if you beat your adj.DX to snap the blade out that much quicker, and if you weren't quite fast enough, it's still readied, just not fast enough to also strike.

ITL pg 36 under Quickdraw Talent "Failure means the action is lost and the weapon is not readied." Note the phrase "Action is lost". I don't see how it can be read as anything but you have to wait until the next Turn to do anything -including drawing the weapon.

You can attempt a Quickdraw on the next Turn again but if it again fails, you still have no weapon and no defense

Then... this becomes a real bummer of a skill for low DX characters.
Only really playable in high DX characters
