Default The Dragon [Martial Arts/Powers/Supers]

One of the popular tropes in entertainment is the concept of the Dragon, the second in command of an enemy group who represents the physical challenges that the heroes must overcome (the Big Bad usually represents an ethical, mental, or spiritual challenge). Since the Dragon is a physical threat, they are usually quite capable of crippling or killing individual heroes with ease, and it is only because the heroes come in groups that the Dragon falls (individual heroes usually fall against the Dragon, at least the first couple of times that they face them).

So, what Dragons have you seen in the games that you have played in? What Dragons have you created for your games? How have you balanced the threat level of the Dragon against the need to give your PCs a chance to survive?
