[DF] Lawful Evil vs Chaotic Evil faction idea for dungeons

I was thinking of how the have the traditional law vs chaos factions in dungeons. So that made me think what would a lawful evil cult be like? In standard D&D, the lawful evil were like an organized mafia while chaotic evil was more of an unstructured power system. But I was thinking what if the lawful evil cult was fanatic and intolerant of any other religion or force not directly controlled by their deity. Any demon not serving their deity would be an enemy and subject to death if it does yield . On the other hand maybe the chaotic evil cults might not serve one deity exclusively, their deity may even look favorably on them for using other powers to further evil. And maybe chaotic evil might be more into temptation and indulgence so that the evil corrupts the world. Just some thoughts.

Are you referring to something like the Blood Wars in 4th edition D&D?

I think it works well thematically from an evil consuming itself point of view.

It's older that that, It was first publish for 2nd ed AD&D in MC8.
4th ed downed graded the Blood war to a cold war.
