"It's the weird colour scheme that freaks me. Every time you try to operate one of these weird black controls, which are labeled in black on a black background, a small black light lights up black to let you know you've done it. Hey, what is this, some kind of galactic hyper-hearse?"

These black Ogres are perfect for playing "The Black Knight" scenario.

Wait, I said that already, didn't I?

It's not Alzheimer's, it's "Old-Timers".

Excellent, my loot has arrived! Really digging the mailer box, if something like that is what Set 2's Many Minis box is going to look like I'm all for it.

If I remember in between prepping for my trip up to see family this weekend, I'll drop some pictures of my loot pile.

If it's true, it's worth repeating :-)

My ancient minis arrived today! 62 mostly-intact HVYs, GEVs, HWZs, MHWZs, and missile tanks. Several of these are clearly Martian Metals sculpts.

Included were:
12x GEVs, all Martian Metals. 1 is missing its engine pods.
14x MSLs, 3 of which are Martian Metals (though sadly with only enough missiles for two)
18x HVYs.
12x HWZs.
6x MWHZs.

It's impossible to tell if the HVYs were produced by Martian Metals or Steve Jackson Games, or for that matter Grenadier, as they used the same molds. The HVYs are all inscribed "RLH" for Randy Hoffa. None of the other minis seem to have sculptor's or company marks. I believe, after checking online, that all of the artillery pieces are the early Steve Jackson Games sculpts.

I've got to say that the HVY and GEV fit right in with the modern plastic pieces. They're not quite as well detailed, but still lovely. The MSL, HWZ, and MHWZ are not quite as nice, with undersized cannons and control areas compared to modern sculpts.

Here's a link to my Ogre collection, as it currently stands:

I expect to build it up quite a bit this coming year.

I'm actually really liking how Flickr works for this sort of thing. I'll be adding a lot more photos soon.
