I don't think that is necessarily an overriding factor. IIRC, the WWII subforum was folded into the main GURPS forum not long after major changes to the line (and despite the subforum being reasonably close to the THS one in activity).

So, I think this subforum will be folded into the GURPS one in 1 to 6 months.

Well its good to know the reason. There were a lot of good discussions on those forums that I would have preferred be able to reference. The contests for example, or praise for my articles : P

If you reckon so, it would be a good idea to tag all the threads in it with "Traveller" before that happens.

I joined after the WWII sub-forum was folded into GURPS, but I wanted to read its content. I've spent quite a bit of time finding as many of the WWII threads as possible and tagging them; tagging Traveller threads while you can still get at them easily will save work later.

What was the name of the newsgroup? The posts might still be available on Google Groups, as Google bought the old Deja News archive. There's also a couple of other Usenet archives (though I've never used them).

I'm certain the majority of it if not the entirety could be recovered with the cooperation of previous subscribers whose newsreaders have retained the buffered postings.

Perhaps SJG would consider allowing some of us plebes to gather the old posts and prepare them for assimilation on our volunteered time, similar to the way lead playtesters were allowed to gather and digest playtest comments for manuscript authors? I can contribute my skills from having completed similar data recovery projects, and this might go some way toward making up for some of the lost subscription length.

Marc's primary expressed concern to me is (re)capturing as much of the data as possible, within the legitimate bounds of his IP rights, and keeping it available.
