Default [Powers] Healing DR, Self-only

It's common in fiction that Supernatural or Technological ability can provide some force field. It is Ablative sometimes and can be replenished from the same source. Examples are Shields and Psionic Barriers from Mass Effect.

I see this as DR (Ablative) and Healing (Ablative DR only, Self-only).

What is a Modifier to allow Healing affect DR? I eyeball something like DR only -40% (based on Injuries only -20% + Accessibility: DR only -20% or Limited: DR only -40% from Regeneration).

Is there any difference for Ablative, Semi-ablative and Non-ablative ("normal") DR (Normal DR can be damaged by corr attack e.g.)?

What is Modifier for Healing (Self-only)? I use -50% (Affect self +50%, No actual Healing Power -100%).

May such Powers - DR and its Healing - be Alternative Abilities each to other? They can be actually the same power in the setting, so it makes sense to allow some link between them but you don't actually have that DR when switched to the Healing, so this can cause difficulties.
What about using such powers from default? E.g. having such Healing as basic Power and produce DRs using defaults?

I would say no difference between the two though you could get an extra little bit for ablative only since ti wont heal armor just a force field in this example.
Healing self only is tricky but I think -50% is too cheap. Also note that this means your taking an extra action to heal the defense and FP to boot.
And I would not allow it as an alternative ability as then you cant heal what you dont have.

Using Healing for DR seems like it'd be really inconvenient and costly in play.

I'd rather have Regeneration.

This is intended Combat ability to quickly regain all your DR by depleting ER (and this isn't only application of that ER). Reduced Cost and Reduced Time make it better. Capped makes it even cheaper.

Regeneration costs more than three times (only 1/sec) or nearly twice (and only 1/min) and isn't useful in combat. Of course, you may abuse it with Maximum Duration and I don't want to allow this.

See again, I don't look for an effective build (at least at the first place), I look for actual building of the Power as this is the way of GURPS. And this is the power to rise the barrier and then the ability to enforce it when depleted, not the ability to slightly enforce it constantly.

Healing 1/sec is useful in combat, though I will grant you slower rates are only useful in certain types of combat.
I see nothing wrong with the concept of using a healing power to restore a force field or even regular armor.
It has drawbacks sure but you seem well aware of those and want them so that's fine then.
