I agree, I'm digging the Octopus Necromancer art!

As a biologist I'm now thinking about speciation, and whether there are different species of Land Octopi. For example, a natural poisonous one similar to our Earth's blue-ringed octopus would make for an interesting assassin character. And what is there are other intelligent land cephalopods, like a giant Architeuthis squid? ^_^

Let the diversity of hyper intelligent cephalopods match the wonders of the Slime phylogenetic tree!

I'm still kinda surprised that I haven't seen an "aha!" post from someone. I guess we grabbed some real deep cuts. I went back and checked, and we definitely got the art right. The connection just hasn't been made by anyone (that I've noticed).

Well, in my personal defense, it's been about twenty years since I last saw many of the covers for the old games (lost my entire collection, except for one or two small things, back then). Though if memory serves, the DT 2 cover smacks more than a little of the original "contest art" for Kung Fu 2100...

But the "Thorz wants you" art doesn't ring any bells for me at this point...so it's probably been too long! ;-)

Oh, I'm not talking about a cover homage. I am talking _real_ subtle . . .

We will keep having fun with the project.
