I'm running a game about a production company that makes bad movies. The current movie: Wyatt Earp vs. Dracula

"You should really be watchful of Doc's banana. You don't know where it's been."
(Doc Holliday currently thinks bananas will cure his TB)

"The guy who these fellows up was a real artist."

"Chomp not have artistic aspirations. Chomp is martial engineer."

A quote to hope you never hear in a game: "... soluble in liquid plutonium."

This isn't game related, but it's very much a quote - I didn't say it, I cut out a piece of paper shaped like a quote balloon and tacked it up.

I used to work in the Ecology Dept, where we had a little enclosed space with a beautiful wisteria plant. Unfortunately, some of the students were of a mind to take a stance against invasive exotic species, and the administration wanted to follow along, so they had the beautiful plant hacked down, leaving a sad little stump. This bugged me, so I made a quote balloon saying,
Quote:
"The next time you want to get rid of an invasive species, try packing your own asses back to Africa."
Obviously humans are the worst invasive species ever...

See, I'm an ECOLOGIST - humans come from Africa. We left Africa and left a trail of extinctions and deserts and all kinds of damage. There was no racial or racist meaning at all to that. It never even occurred to me. But OH LORD, did it set off a firestorm, when the all black janitorial staff found it and took it to the all white administrator. I seriously thought I was going to be expelled. Fortunately, I didn't sign it. More fortunately, I had recently saved the life of one of the high ups (from choking, I actually did the Hiemlich). I turned myself in, she understood and whitewashed it.

I'd rather hear it in a game, than in real life. ;)

Actually, some current theories have H. sapiens sapiens arising in the Levant and eastern Europe... from a hybridization.

Still, if you saw my sign, given the circumstances, would you think it racist?

Can it be? It very explicitly talks about species, not race.

On the other hand, most people would not understand or notice the difference without an explanation.
