Re: Not quite clear on how some poisons work
Not sure it's oFAQ-worthy, but I did put it into the uFAQ.
Still find the botulism wording+explanation hard to follow. Requires jumping between Basic Set, High Tech and Kromm's Word several time if it ever suddenly comes up in the middle of a game. Also: Why is Curare TL5 if it is TL0? |

Re: Not quite clear on how some poisons work
Curare as a primitive poison prepared in the bush has been around for a very long time, and it would be reasonable to call it TL0. Curare as a scientifically prepared drug sold by pharmaceuticals companies is a development of the early to mid 1800s, so it's TL5. The cost in GURPS High-Tech is for the latter – but GURPS Low-Tech lists that cost in case the GM wants to sell it to TL0-4 fantasy assassins. In the real world, it's strictly an application of the Poisons skill before TL5, as the people who knew about and used it wouldn't have had much use for money.
