[DF] Ethereal Dungeons
I am curious about how people handle the ethereal plane when playing DF. Do spirits and ghosts live there or is it just an in-between plane? Do you have ethereal objects that can only be accessed when the PCs are ethereal? Maybe there are ethereal doors? Or there might be magic items hidden on the ethereal plane that must be brought to the Prime Material Plane to be used or sold? Are monsters hiding in the ethereal plane, waiting for adventurers to feed upon? Just curious... Thanks.

Re: [DF] Ethereal Dungeons
The is no "ethereal plane" in my DF campaign. There is a "faerie veil" and "hell" and "heaven," but no Planescape scheme like there is in D&D. Planes are not enough of an iconic part of the experience I am trying to capture. People who go to "hell" or "heaven" are probably dead. People who go beyond the "faerie veil" experience weird distortion of time.

Re: [DF] Ethereal Dungeons
My fantasy world has an "Ethereal Plane" of sorts that serves to connect the world to the Otherworld and the Shadow Plane. I treat it as being Insubstantial and Invisible with a penalty on Perception between the Ethereal and relavent material world (-7 from Ethereal to Material and -10 from Material to Ethereal). There are places where the barrier between the Ethereal and material are weak, and that penalty is reduced. But that's been my treatment of it.
