Default Mass-effect curses

Let me take "everyone lose a level" curse as example. It is said that if U have wishing ring U can cancel effect of that curse for one or multiple characters and it is clear. But what if that curse was opened face up by someone, and other players have "magnificent hat", "boots of protection" and Mutant steed, does their protection work?

Why would they not?

i would say the Boots only work if you were the one kicking down the door - i would say that the rest works as if it was the quivalent of other players playing curses on you. also with something like magnificent hat or lucky talisman i'd say that you can reflect it onto someone else, and they'd have to lose 2 levels. but thats just the way i'd play it, i dunno if you should be able to.

the magnificent hat wont work since some other player player will get the curse and then everyone will suffer the effect (including the wearer of the hat).

sandals of protection will work only if the player wearing them opened the door and then no one will suffer the effect of the curse.

Incorrect. The hat works, someone will get hit twice.
Correct, that is why I wonder why they wouldn't work.

How does the Magnifecent hat deal with Spoiled rations or Flypaper floors? I asume that because these curse's involve one player being hit with the curse but the effect is felt by all, that the hat doesn't save you.

Look at the wording of the card. "Anyone else played on you". A curse that affects the entire party we treat as one that was played on all characters.
Thus the hats affect is workable.

So with flypaper floors, do you roll and see who gets a negitive two run away, and with rations spoiled does someone roll twice for their steed?

as i understand it, if you have the magnificent hat you only have protection if the curse card targeted you. if it targeted someone else and has mass effect you are not protected since you are not the one who got hit by the curse.

PS
Eric, an official reply from you would be greatly appreciated.
