I agree, even though these aren't photo-realistic and have at least one noticeable difference to human norms that I won't mention.

But it is something a player with a familiar could do to the gm.

That reminds me of:
Back when I tried GM-ing, I used a pre-published adventure. Only belatedly did I realize that the reward was absurdly over the top for the group. Well, they were fighting kobolds who are known for cowardice and stealth...
so one decided not to fight the party but run off with the gold into the forest.
For a few sessions afterward, if they listened closely they could hear the ching-ching of him still running with his loot.
Fortunately, they understood why I did it, so no ill will was tossed at me.
