Super Cooks [Powers/Supers]
I was just curious how you would design the abilities of super cooks? I was thinking that each ability would be a known unique recipe. Each recipe would likely require a minimum of Blood Agent (the recipe must be ingested), Delay (the recipe does not activate until eaten), Environmental (the recipe must be made in a kitchen), and Immediate Preparation Required (representing the time required to make the recipe). Versatile cooks would likely have multiple recipes as alternative abilities, as they could only prepare so many concoctions at one time.
So, how would you design super cooks? Would you use the above modifiers or would you do something else? Would a super cook be too silly for your supers games? |

Re: Super Cooks [Powers/Supers]
It depends what your trying to do.
A super cook who can cook really fast good meals? very large meals at once? That was where the title took me,but sounds more like our trying to model more a potion maker. So that could be abilities with a trigger modifier for when eaten. Afflictions, cyclical toxic attacks, cherry pies that actually explode, etc.

Yeah I'd think of it as kind of a potion maker thing. Eat this and it gives you this or that Advantage, Disadvantage, Skill, Stat, HP or FP boost, etc.
Maybe able to rig it to have different effects on different people because of some characteristic. From literature: Taki the Chef from Girl Genius, who works mainly with Pie.

Re: Super Cooks [Powers/Supers]
There's a restaurateur in one of Spider Robinson's stories who doesn't put out menus but always knows exactly what meal would satisfy his customers.
Which is probably some sort of specialised telepathy, intuition or precognition. Probably Intuition.

Re: Super Cooks [Powers/Supers]
If you did want to just be extremely good at cooking, then Altered Time Rate (Aspected (Food Preparation), -20%, Non-Combat Speed, -60%) [20]/level would probably be the way to go. It'd be pretty expensive to start, but after a few levels you'd have some insane speed. Combine that with a very high Cooking skill and you'd be able to perform feats about as impressive as cooking-related feats can be.

Re: Super Cooks [Powers/Supers]
Super cook? I'd start with Luck, Serendipity, Gunslinger, Trained by a Master, Throwing Art, world class unarmed skills, Stealth, Tactics, and anything else fitting for a former SEALS one man army.
Jokes aside, Pyramid #3-105: Cinematic Magic has the article Gourmet Alchemy which I think is perfect for what you want. On another note, I recall Kromm mentioning a player he had once that was a mage specialized in food magic. He'd use Seek Food to locate enemies and carried tubes of spice with corks on both sides that could be used as blowpipes. |

Re: Super Cooks [Powers/Supers]
Cooking at 25 will let you prepare meals at 10% speed at a skill 16 (subject to chemistry and physics), so normal people can do that.

I once had a character in a jokey campaign called The Ginsu Warrior. He was a teppanyaki grill master and martial artist.
