Re: [Powers] The Power of... Gadgeteering?
Although it's not quite the same thing, it might be worth looking at Sean Punch's "Weird Science" power from Pyramid 3/46.

Re: [Powers] The Power of... Gadgeteering?
Here's a contragravity ability. Thoughts on what I should do next? Thinking of some medtech, maybe some nanotech.
Contragravity 60 points + 24 points/level You can install a contragravity generator on anything from a small personal item such as a belt to a large vehicle such as a spaceship. Level 1 grants Air Move 10 and Space Move 10. Each additional level doubles top speed. Level 1 is Afflictions 1 (Advantages, Modified Flight, Air Move, and Space Move +600%; Based on Own IQ Roll, +20%; Cosmic, Duration is cumulative, +100%; Delay, Triggered, +50%; No Signature, +20%; Immediate Preparation Required, 2d-1 × 10 minutes, -45%; Melee Attack, Reach C, -30%; Equipment Only, -40%; Gadgeteering, -0%). Advantages added by level 1 are Air Move +9 (Stability +2, +5%; Futuristic, -5%) [18]; Space Move +9 (Stability +2, +5%; Futuristic, -5%; Alternative Abilities, x1/5) [4]; Flight (Space Flight, +50%; Futuristic, -5%; Planetary, -5%; Slow, -45%) [38]. High levels add one level each of Enhanced Move (Air; Stability +2, +5%; Futuristic, -5%) [20] and Enhanced Move (Space; Stability +2, +5%; Futuristic, -5%; Alternative Ability of Enhanced Move (Air) x1/5) [4]. |

Re: [Powers] The Power of... Gadgeteering?
Here's another ability:
Assemblers 161 or 201 points + 4 points/level You have access to powerful nanoassembler technology, which can be used to make almost anything, as long as you have access to raw materials of the right mass and elemental composition. Normally, devices depend on you continuously operating the nanomachines to continue functioning, which precludes use of other gadgeteering abilities. However, by taking more time to use the assemblers, you can manufacture stable items at a rate appropriate to your Wealth. The maximum size of items you can manufacture follows the usual progression for Snatcher. Statistics: Level 1 is Snatcher (Creation, +100%; Reduced FP Cost 2, +40%; Less Weight, 1 oz., -30%; Consumes bulk materials whose mass and elemental composition must match the final product, -10%) [160] + Perk (Can money appropriate to your Wealth using Assemblers) [1]. Additional levels reduce Less Weight, then add More Weight. • Optionally, add Large Items, +50%, adding 40 points to final cost. |

Re: [Powers] The Power of... Gadgeteering?
Here's an example of some medical nano. I'm winging it on the value of the "special effect", but it feels balanced:
Quickheal 41 points This lets you whip up a dose of Quickheal (UT206) in just (2d-1) x 10 seconds. Statistics: Healing (Affects Self, +50%; Cannot restore crippled limbs, ‑10%; Capped, 2 FP, ‑25%; Injuries Only, ‑20%; Reduced Fatigue Cost 2, +40%; Takes (2d-1) x 10 seconds, -0%; Special effect: see note, +0%) [41]. Note: can only be used on a given patient one per hour, and takes the full hour to take effect. However, after one hour it can be used again immediately without penalty. Re: [Powers] The Power of... Gadgeteering?
One thing I'm struggling with a bit–good abilities for mid-power gadgeteers using this system to improvise. The way I'm building modification abilities means they have a minimum cost of ~12 points or so, and most are significantly more expensive. Good ideas for abilities in the 2-point to 11-point range would be very useful. Some "cinematic hacking" abilities might be good here, since being able to add "Cybernetic, -50%" to things lowers the cost a lot. I've also considered something like Intuition (Loadout Selection, -20%) [12] as a substitute for Gizmos. Anyone have other thoughts?

I have been working on a slightly more hard science (but still space operatic) nanotechnology based power on and off since Powers came out.
