Re: Ogre Computer Game
We should add we did see that threat and worked our way though it, so any points made on it, we've noted them! Thanks.

Re: Ogre Computer Game
Thanks.
Like I said on the other thread, I just don't want an RTS game where I'm clicking all over the map trying to outclick other players or the computer. A straight port of the game might be boring, but it's what I would want. Maybe add some cool music and Sound FX. |

The game is set to be turn-based, which should avoid click-racing like that which you've described above. |

Re: Ogre Computer Game
...just to be clear, I am an unofficial OGRE Fanboy. Everything spewing from my imagination is not endorsed, condoned, or recognized in any official capacity, ect. ect. by SJGs as anything but the meandering, rudderless musings of said unofficial fanboy.
Any thoughts about players being able to name their units, at least the OGREs? That feature may be beyond superfluous, but it would be pretty cool to name a Mark 5 "PINK" for example...Ashley, I'm thinking of you. :)

I'll be interested in reading any designers notes on the AI. Stacking and overruns bumps up the number of choices by an order or magnitude or two. Playing something like "Ceasefire Collapse", with lots of units on either side, probably bumps it up a few more. Is there a good general heuristic? The Origin Systems version used one, but that approach might not work for something as ambitious as this seems to be. Anyhow, good luck and I can't wait to play it when it's done! |

Re: Ogre Computer Game
OK, I'm clearly a little slow this morning, but please expand. I get the 'Play by' part, just not the 'FT'...
