A question about Tactical Combat, Facing, and Reach 2+ weapons
Hello!
This seems like a silly question, and I might have just missed the answer that lies somewhere in the Basic Set, but does anyone know how to deal with defending against attacks that come from not quite your side hex but not quite your back hex either? This is only possible against a Reach 2+ weapon or a ranged attack, but just to clarify, I'm talking about the specific hex that is 2 yards away from you and is between your Left/Right hex and your Back hex. Would you rule this as an attack coming from behind you or from your side? And what about attacks coming from further away, like ranged attacks, but you cannot draw a straight line from your Left/Right hex or your Back hex to the attacker? Thank you, and have a great day! |

Basic set page 388 has a picture showing you what is your front hexes, side (Left and right), and back hex.
I would count that as a back hex. |

For a more quick rule, I tend to use "If it's unclear, assume the worst"

Re: A question about Tactical Combat, Facing, and Reach 2+ weapons
I’d rule that any of the black hexes on the diagram on 389 are back hexes for the purposes of defending. If you can’t see to make ranged attacks into them without 360 degree vision, you can’t see to defend against attacks from them either.
