Multiclassing?
New to DFRPG and not sure if multiclassing is possible. Thanks in advance for any insight.

Re: Multiclassing?
There aren't rules specifically covering it for the DFRPG. However, as Custom Professions on Adventurers, p. 14, notes, the GM can, if she so chooses, allow characters to buy any traits they want. When you get down to it, it's all just points, so if the GM wants to let you play, say, a wizard-swashbuckler, you could start with a wizard but take some of your points to build up a weapon skill or start with a swashbuckler and use some of your points to buy Magery and some spells. Mechanically, there are no obstacles, but it'll require some though as to how best to implement "multiclassed" characters.

That's not a cop-out: that's how the game engine operates. That being said, as directed, you have 250 points to spend, and you can't afford two complete templates with that point budget. You can certainly, provided you consult with your GM, work to create a blend of templates - say, a Knight-Wizard or Barbarian-Druid, or something else. Just beware that on a point-budget game, jack of all trades really does mean master of none.

Re: Multiclassing?
Thanks, I think I'll have my player put his "spend x on these" points into the other class' mandatory stuff. Looking forward to running Mirror of the Fire Demon with DFRPG btw, reads really well.

Re: Multiclassing?
I would prefer taking this to the GURPS Forum, since the DFRPG forum is more or less "out of the box" play by request of the Mods.

Re: Multiclassing?
The rules in GURPS Dungeon Fantasy 3: The Next Level for mixed profession lenses are probably fairly easy to import into Dungeon Fantasy, although the professions that changed a lot would need new lenses.

Re: Multiclassing?
For a "Fighter/Wizard", I'd recommend either primary fighter and either buffing spells or spells to fill gaps in the party, or primary wizard and enough combat skill to get by.
Being a 125-point "Fighter" and a 125-point "Wizard" is less useful than two 125-point hirelings. :/ |

Re: Multiclassing?
The classes in DF are set as they are mostly for two reasons: niche protection (making sure that everyone has something they're the best at) and synergies (some things just don't work well -- e.g. fighter/magic user).
