Default Doubt on Armour divisor (Firearms)

Hi,
i don't understand in this string (B278):
6 Revolver, .38 2d-1 pi 2 120/1,500 2/0.2 3 6(3i) 8 -2 2 $400 3

(3i) what does it mean "i" ?

...and:

6 Auto Pistol, 9mm 2d+2 pi 2 150/1,850 2.4/0.4 3 8+1(3) 9 -2 2 $350 3

Why 8+1 under "Shot"?

Thanks for patience
Regards!

(3i) means you need to take 3 turns per bullet to reload it.

8+1 means 8 in the magazine and 1 in the chamber.

3i means each shot is loaded individually and takes 3 seconds per shot.

8 +1 means 8 shots in the magazine, but you can have 1 shot chambered already.

Has nothing to with armor.

1. The 'i' stands for "individual", and means that the weapon is reloaded one shot at a time, each round taking the time given. (Normally, the time is to reload an entire magazine.) See B270, under "Shots", or B373.

2. The n+1 notation for Shots means that the weapon can carry an extra round in the chamber. The reload time restores a full magazine of n shots. But you could also take more time to load that one extra round individually, for a total of n+1. The rule appears on HT88. (And despite my description, that paragraph doesn't mention any extra loading time.) I'm not sure where it's located in Basic.

I couldn't find any reference in the Basic Set to the + notation for chambered rounds, even though there are weapons in the Basic Set that use it.

I also didn't see a rule for how long it takes to load that extra round, whether in Basic or HT.

(If I had to make one up, I'd just use the typical revolver stat of "3i" for that lone round, whether that's actually chambering it on its own, or -- having loaded a magazine and worked the weapon to chamber that first round -- pulling the magazine, inserting an extra round, and re-inserting it. Which sounds a bit generous...)

You probably wouldn't.

The exceptions:
  1. You replace a magazine before the gun is empty (though the magazine may be empty). The chambered round remains chambered. Doesn't take any extra time.
  2. Pump and lever action guns - anything with "+1" in shots and "i" in loading time. It's as simple as filling the magazine, chambering a round, and putting one more round in the magazine. Uses the standard time for loading one additional round.
  3. You insert a magazine, work the action, remove the magazine, insert an additional round, and reinsert the magazine. Or, you chamber a round manually and insert a full magazine. Time largely irrelevant, as you would never do this during action that calls for second by second resolution.

Armor divisor only ever appears immediately after damage dice. 3d(2) pi, for example.

Option 1 is IIRC known as a “tactical reload,” and unless the setting follows video game logic with regards to ammo (or you have tech or a trait that lets you do so), can quickly end up with a bag full of partial magazines if you do it too often. In a setting with video game logic, of course, it’s a great option when you get to cover or there’s otherwise a lull in the fighting.
