Duration of Binding
I can not find how long a Binding power lasts after a person is bound. The book does say that once a victim breaks free, that he is out but what if the victim never succeeds at that roll. Does the Binding power become their coffin?

Re: Duration of Binding
If it is impossible for the character to succeed (IE the strength of the binding is at least 16 higher than his strength) and he possesses no abilities to attack it, then yes he'll have to wait for outside rescue and die if none is forthcoming and he doesn't have doesn't need to eat or drink. .

Spiders know that's true.

Re: Duration of Binding
That's generally the effect of tying someone up tightly with chains they can't break and leaving them to die, yes :D
My GM used to joke about the fire department being called and having to use special Laser Jaws of Life to rescue victims of my darkness-based binding attack. EDIT: Note that outside forces usually CAN rescue the Binding victim. If they can't break it, because it's unbreakable or just too dang tough, then in a game with Binding attacks you can probably also find someone to teleport them out of the Binding, or Shrink them out of the binding, or Neutralize the binding, or whatever.

Re: Duration of Binding
Without looking at my books.
Is there a way to limit the duration of binding? Is there any point? Any duration more than a couple of seconds is potentially leathal due to the old stab-them-lots-while-they-are-defenceless trick. |

Re: Duration of Binding
Maximum Duration (as mentioned in the other thread on this topic).
For combat, you have a point. Though of course you may not want to kill the enemy at all. But not all Binding is going to last only in combat time. How else is Spidey going to leave the crooks for the cops to find? How else is the villain going to bind you to the rocky shore and walk away giggling as the tide comes in? |

Re: Duration of Binding
I've made do with just adding Switchable +10%. It's quirky - much like how Invisibility defaults to always on until modified.

Re: Duration of Binding
I just did a Binding build and used Cancellation from Psionic Powers for exactly this reason. Same cost as Switchable and it has a nice mechanic to it.
