Default Rules for in-game tournaments?

Hello all!

I'm looking for rules for tournaments, the kind of fighting context where no one is supposed to get seriously hurt (though accidents do happen).

What rules for a knightly tourney? A boxing or Karate championship?

An underground ring where anything goes as long as your opponent is out cold?

I don't want rules for fighting normally, just rules for avoiding to kill/cripple characters in controlled competition with clearly defined rules.

Where could I find such rules? Are they in a specific rulebook?

Thanks in advance!

Martial Arts 134-135 has rules for tournaments.

To tide you over until you acquire the excellent Martial Arts (although there is of course a limit to how much they can squeeze into two pages) Campaigns 397 also has a section on jousting and the forum has had a number of threads in the past regarding detailed jousting rules which you should be able to track down via search.

In various books on the anthropological side of war such as Keegan's History of Warfare, or Crevald's Culture of War, oddball displays of what are either tourneys or combat's by champion are found in backwater areas such as among the Fierce People, or the Maori are described. On the other side of the technological spectrum it is a little known fact that there are tourneys with modern weapon's systems such as the Tiger Meet fighter competition. These can give variations to the normal jousting.
