Burns are probably pretty random, but in the specific case of knife cuts, you're far more likely to get a knife cut on the hand you use to hold whatever you're cutting than on the hand you use to hold the knife.

I was recently asked if I was former military, because I was standing in parade rest while waiting for an IT guy to finish something. I'm not, and it was a coincidence, but apparently its a way military folks recognize each other.

I was once asked if I was European just, because I cross my 7s and Zs.

I only started, because my poor handwriting otherwise makes them hard to distinguish from 1s and 2s.

That style can also be an indicator of US military service. I've known a couple of people that were trained to do so by their military experience.

Also slashing through zeroes (as is, or at least sometimes was, a habit of computer programmers).

I've understood it to be standard for anyone in engineering - and the slashing of zeros a less common version of the same thing. Likewise using the "open" number four as opposed to the "closed" one that can be mistaken for a nine when handwritten.

Ask someone what a six sided die is... if he answers "a d6", odds are he play(ed) rpg...

Edit : learned something: dice is always plural

Or for that matter, without meaning to embarrass you, whether they say "die" or "dice" for the singular.

That's also a good way to spot the foreigner with accented english instead of native :)
So, die for singular, dice for plural... I have been making that mistake for a long time, thanks!

English doesn't believe in consistent rules for grammatical number (or case, or...), largely because it stole words from multiple languages with different rules.
