Stellar movement was a problem for Jumpgates in Fading Suns. It meant that the guild maintaining the navigation for Jumpgates had to update their programming and old black market keys were dangerous to use.

It didn't really have any plot effects but the start of the Stargate series they explained thinking that there was only one other gate by that being the closest and drift hadn't made it unreachable but the other had drifted enough that you had to calculate and correct for it.

Artificial jumgates are something that I was considering: I like the idea of old keys (black market or otherwise)

Fading Suns has jump travel as something left lying around by a precursor race. So it's not entirely understood and not something that can just be fixed or constructed. The game has really nice worldbuilding but I decided it wasn't quite GURPS enough. Worth a read if you're looking for jump travel inspirations.

Another take: One day, the FTL ships simply ... vanish. The isolated civilisation understands that, after calculating the "light speed lags" of various stars, the jumps ended on the same day. Something - or someone - stopped the FTL traffic, but according to the astronomers, the jumplines should still exist. And even if the lines would have been interrupted, signs of interplanetary traffic or radio signals would be there. So, the isolated ones decide to build a STL ship to take a look...

And another one: The isolated ones (has somebody a better name?) watch more and more ships jumping into their direction. It looks like the folks out there are fleeing from something (or someone). The ships arrive at a neighbouring system and wait for the new jumpline to the isolated system that will upon into the isolated system ...
