Re: [Help Needed] Cyberpunk Program Cost Question
Quote:
Hacking really is equal parts social engineering, electronics, operating system and software coding knowledge. It's not just one skill. Most of that is cheap, but social engineering and electronics can get expensive. It will in general be an opposed roll. It's your skill against whomever designed the security of the system. If you want to get some idea of how hacking works, look at some of the DEFCON videos on YouTube. Some examples: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pk1hjIMR3ro https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OobLb1McxnI https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h5PRvBpLuJs In general, my experience is that software manufacturers have gotten better at security over the past 10-15 years, even Microsoft. Hardware manufacturers usually aren't. Doesn't matter if it's a car, coffee machine or fridge. All of these things come with software now, but hardware manufacturers have a long way to go before they understand the security implications.
