I'm excited for more GURPS books too. As far as Ogre goes, I'm awaiting the Box of Doom with anticipation, but honestly, I'd rather have more GURPS books. I realize that the issue with GURPS isn't one that can be easily solved by throwing money at it, but at the same time, I wish it was. Then I could throw my money at it and hope it did some good!

I have a fantasy where they do some sort of GURPS kickstarter and it blows the pants off the Ogre kickstarter, then priorities shift to GURPS. Not going to happen, but a guy can dream.

100%. Fully upcoming. In no way is it already here. Hope this answers your question!

It'll enter the final stages around mid-2013.

Which means, barring other complications/delays, it'll come out sometime around early- to mid-2014.

Take everything I just said with a few dozen grains of salt...

Kromm's LiveJournal entry of 7th December was indicating a final draft some time around mid-2013. RogerBW's tracker is helpful for this kind of stuff.

Funny, I remember it being Luke "emo" Skywalker doing the whiny "Nooooooo!".

There were only three Star Wars movies, and no Christmas special. You just have horrible nightmares. Seriously f*cked up nightmares.

  • GURPS Vehicle Design will be along when it comes along. There's no contradiction between these statements:
    1. "We're working on it, progress is being made, and it will definitely be published."
    2. "We have no idea when, exactly, we'll get the final draft, how long that will be in production, or what the release date might be."
The first is a concrete statment of action and intent; the second is a necessarily unreliable prediction about the schedule for the outcome of that action and intent. Such is the world of the small press.

  • GURPS After the End is on hold because there's discussion to be had within the company regarding whether we want to support a fourth worked-genre series (alongside Action, Dungeon Fantasy, and Monster Hunters) right now, and whether After the End will interfere with a possible GURPS Survivors someday, as that item is still on SJ's personal long- to very-long-term list. Discussion is unlikely to resume before Ogre is printed and distributed, several Munchkin projects get out the door, and we've cleared the GURPS backlog I listed above.

Great. Thank you for the clarification.

Just for the point of offering my opinion (knowing full well that it will have no weight whatsoever with the decision process...)...I have no opinion on the "supporting a fourth worked-genre series" issue. But my hope would be that the initial books can be put out and we (the forumites) can run with it.

On the "interfering with GURPS Survivors" issue, I would hope that After the End::Survivors would work the same way Dungeon Fantasy::Fantasy do. I don't see DF interfering with Fantasy, but then I'm on the outside looking in and using both.

But, since it's on the backburner for the forseeable future, I might as well start work on my mutant generator again...
