That makes sense.

Anyone know if there has there been any development on this front?

I always feel a touch of sadness when a great and proud multihex creature is trapped and beaten to death by a small mob of riffraff.

I don't know that it's on Steve's radar yet.

I think the "allow enemies an attack but move despite being engaged" rule would probably work best here. I think it would also help the "engaged fliers" situation - just say you can attack and be attacked by anyone you were within one hex of during the turn, but don't have fliers frozen in mid-air due to engagement.

Dragons that are 7+ hexes particularly suffer because of the rules limiting how much they can turn when on the ground and engaged.

I would think Brina is not engaged since Abner moved more than half his MA and can not take any actions. If Abner moved half MA or less, I would think Brina is engaged. I don't find anything in the rules about this particular situation.
Brina is engaged. And for her combat action she could disengage. Initiative is now essential to her escaping.

Agreed. And nothing in the (original) rules would say otherwise, except possibly if Brina can claim Abner is not a threat to her in general.

(However some of us favor house rules where figures can move out of engagement if they're willing to be attacked by the people they disengage from. In that case the specifics would depend on those house rules, which might well include that Abner would get no attack unless he was about to be able to attack in the next action phase, in which case Brina could leave engagement at will. But that'd be a house rule.)
