We prefer the term "discarded."

Well aware. This is why I'll be rather peeved if, despite arranging to get it WELL in advance, I end up without a first printing issue, and therefore no card. That was my only worry. I knew I'd get the comic itself.

I ordered a subscription too. If there's no card, BOOM will be getting a stern email from me.

EDIT: Frustration level rising. Their customer service email bounces back a mailer-daemon.

EDIT 2: Frustration level fading. Surely they account for subscribers in the first print-run. It would be really silly if they didn't.

Bummer. It looks like I should have gone with the subscription through Boom instead of requesting it through my FLGS (and comic shop).

Will the demand for issue 1 help to increase the plans for the first printing of the second issue (that includes the card)?

Also, am I remembering correctly that there may be plans to make these cards available through other means in the future? Any more specifics on this in light of the issue 1 situation?

OK, there's a lot of confusion here, so let me be clear:

"Sold out" means something different in comics than in games. Right now, NO ONE has copies of issue #1; it won't hit shelves until later this month. What "sold out" means here is that between their own subscribers and the preorders from comic stores, Boom! Studios has presold the entire first print run.

If your comic shop ordered Munchkin #1, they will be getting copies from the first printing, including the new card. The only reason you might not get one was if your store was allocated by Diamond and didn't get the full number they ordered -- and if you asked your store to pull it for you, unless they were REALLY deeply allocated, you should get your copy pulled before the rest hit the shelf.

All of that assumes a competent comic shop with reasonable policies. If your store doesn't fit that description, that's a problem with the store, not with SJ Games or Boom!.

This is much clearer now. Thank you!!

The only things I see not addressed so far are whether the cards will be available elsewhere at some point since more of us want it than you printed, are the 3 cards pictured going to be in issues 1, 2, and 3, and why does only the first printing contain the card?

Not at this time. If you want the cards, hit up your local comic shop early. (I stress again, the comics that include the cards SHOULD be available as long as you don't wait too long.)

Wait and see.

Because it's an incentive for people to preorder or to buy it earlier rather than waiting.

I'm curious if the comics will be polybagged with the card, the card will be part of a car stock insert, or if the cards will come coshipped but not technically part of the comics. This will affect my likely hood of getting the card or getting the card without additional up charge. I would characterize my own FLCS as more of just a LCS as they've been known to remove included extras, charge for comics on FCBD, and perform other all around shaddy practices.
