There is no magic in Mars Attacks!

The new edition of Discworld has a new magic system (for meanings of "new" that don't make pedantic references to Thaumatology). Because reasons, involving forty or so novels where Terry was making stuff up as he went along. The playtesters seemed to quite like it.

Wait... are these new new or just new copies of books that have existed for a long time?

New editions.
GURPS Discworld is a totally new edition for GURPS Fourth edition.
GURPS Mars Attacks I dont recall ever being done before, though GURPS Atomic Horror was fun.

Both books were ready to go to print a few months ago, but were delayed at that stage until recently.

There has been no "GURPS Discworld" for many years now.

What's upcoming was called "The Discworld Roleplaying Game", last time I saw any layouts or cover art.

It worked rather well in the playtest mini-campaign I ran, which was deliberately mostly magicians to exercise it. I re-read the playtest version this afternoon, and it still looks strong.

Yes, the page will be updated. The marketing team is buried at Gen Con right now and will attack this later.

Splendid. My LGS tends to check the web for things they're asked to order and trust it over what customers say. It's hard to fault them, given how confused some of their cusromers are.

Great news about Discworld RPG, I can't wait to see how the themes and situations from the books that came out after the last edition are dealt with! I take it this will still be attached to a copy of GURPS Lite rather than being a worldbook for use with the full rules?

I'm really interested in alternate magic systems. Would the Discworld book be worth the money if I'm only interested in the game mechanics and not the setting? Or is it mostly setting with a page or two of magic?
