Let's be perfectly honest, the thread seems to be stalling:

Question 23
What's an unusual thing that everyone on Earth wants? (2 Sentences)

Question 24
Has trade re-emerged? Is it all barter? (2 Sentences)

Question 25
Are there any sophisticated governments (as in, not just stationary bandits)? Are they surviving remnants of governments, or did they emerge after the catastrophe? (5 Sentences)

Question 26
Are there things everyone on Earth fears? (4 Sentences)

Question 27
Are there real supernatural powers, or just mumbo jumbo and wishful thinking? (3 Sentences)

Maybe guerilla breeding and distribution of Golden Rice, or a similar variety of another hardy grain. Sorghum, barley, oats, rye, and/or corn*?!?

* That is, Zea mays subsp. mays.
Food and water is what I had in mind. The mental picture I had of the "Chopper Hoppers" was a nod toward that. I was also thinking that it might be fun from the DM side of things to be able to have a tank of water randomly "hop" in from out of the sky.

As far as the power pagodas... I think I could come up with something better. It's not necessarily off topic, but I feel as though it's an answer which is not clearly connected to the question.

Aside from the rising oceans having changed coastlines, and the weather zones having shifted (effecting both flora and fauna) surprising little. Okay, the polar regions have changed quite a bit, what with the majority of the ice having melted, but not many people are going to be affected by this shift. So overall, not much (though individual regions reserve the right to decide tectonic shifts or super volcanoes have made significant alterations to 'local' geography).

Just a bump because (I believe) all of the dangling questions from previous pages had been addressed.

With rumour and hearsay being the most reliable forms of news available to most people a lot of people fear the unknown and modern myths and legendary monsters.

As for real things that strike fear into people's hearts, there is a Sixer. A sixer starts life as a typical category 4 or 5 storm and then encounters a high altitude dust storm. The dust storm is then sucked into the main storm creating nightmarish conditions, every once and while a major air current like the Gulf Stream is pulled in with the dust storm thus supercharging the whole weather event.

Question 29
What are some of the rumours and myths that are passed around the campfires?
A-E, 2 sentences each.

Answer(s) 29

A) Southeast Asian Catfish have grown larger and evolved sturdier legs. The end result is an ill-tempered omnivorous beast which looks like a lion-sized catfish with a morphology resembling a catfish crossed with either a bison or a komodo dragon.

B) Saint Nicholas is a generous offworlder who keeps an eye on the world's children via [insert satellites or some combo of mythological (or real) tech and magic here]. Every year, he makes a list of well-behaved children and delivers gifts to them as they sleep.

C) Hringhorni (aka Nimitz, Kuznetsov, Sea Camelot, and a variety of lesser-known names) is an old aircraft carrier which has been converted into a shining silver city of safety and surplus traveling somewhere on the world's oceans. If the stories are to be believed, common versions include some portion of flight deck having been converted into fields for farming and the engines having been upgraded to some manner of renewable energy (to explain how such a large ship could still be functional and independent).

D) While most K-10s might tend toward being trustworthy or friendly to humans, The Dingo King is a violent radical who strikes in the middle of the night -performing all manner of unspeakable acts of depravity, but having a special fondness for stealing babies. The Dingo King engages in [some combination of pseudoscience and profane sacrilegious ritual] which ends in consuming the flesh and blood of babies to prolong his own life.

E) Somewhere, hopping about the world, is an experimental modified version of one of the Vapor Collector "Chopper Hoppers" which makes (and/or is filled with) coffee/whiskey/rootbeer/whatever. It is rarely seen because the extra energy required for brewing said beverage (in addition to the normal function) requires more time and energy, so it retreats to [some far away or mythical location] to recharge before deploying back into the world again.

Answer 30
Some cell towers have survived and are in use by local warlords as "even better" radios, and of course radio is still usable, if not (due to weather) always as reliable. Old satellite networks have been taken by the Lunar and Lagrange colonies and are used for whatever purpose they use them for. Occasionally there are stories of "that weirdo techie nut who got the old satellite dish to chooch and was getting Enclave broadcasts!" but those are probably just stories.

AFAIK recall, the thread has been up to now rather generic in it's development.
Generally, but most mentions of anything specific have been related to the US (i.e. preppers, Amish, Colorado, Montana).

Is there benefit in developing a specific locale?

Conversely, will this exercise be of greater utility, if posts are of a more undefined nature?
Well, that was the question I was asking, essentially.

My feeling, noting that I've only been lurking so far, is that without a specific locale, we won't be able to look at the relations between, say, Bullet Farm, Gas Town and The Citadel, and what dangers lie in the nearby desolate Green Place. (Fury Road references, in case anyone missed them.)

The global perspective is important, but might need a unifying theme to move things along- such as the fight for survival against the Zone Minds of Reign of Steel.

Quotes for context

Moreover, evileeyore's first response read, "Mature TL 9, though there were certain TL 10 technologies that were into development and some that had matured."

So, assuming the United States qualifies as a a "most advanced nation," and widespread deuterium-hydrogen fusion power is a hallmark of TL9 (G: Basic Set, p512), then it's problematic to assume accelerated construction of fossil-fuel plants.

How do we reconcile?

I think having a rough idea of when we are might help give context to trying to answer some of the other questions about the state of trade and governments and such.

Question 31
Previous posts seem to indicate that the date of the setting is -at least- sometime after the year 2140. TL9 had matured, and the world had begun to dabble in a few TL10 technologies "before" the end; it's now around 100 years "after" the end. So, what is the estimated in-game year of the setting?
(4 sentences)
