should One Arm be worth more, or should disadvantages have mitigators?
Instead of taking that for -20 points you could take:
*One Hand -15 *No Physical Attack -5 *Short -5 *Weak -5 This would give you -30 points and be more usable since you could still sort of manipulate a little bit (with low reach, low ST and no accuracy). I think maybe NPA/Short/Weak (from "Extra Arms") should be worth fewer points as disadvantages if someone has One Hand, because both of those disadvantages cause penalties when using weapons held in the hand, which are already a moot point for the one-handed character. They only lose out on stuff like fighting with a hook/shield strapped to the arm. Perhaps if they only counted as quirks for an arm that's missing a hand then this combination would only be worth -18 points and still rightly be worth fewer than One Arm, if that value is kept constant? Basically "Mitigator: No Hand 80%" on them? In the case of such as Bad Grip 3 (One Hand Only -80%) [3], maybe these should also be some kind of mitigator to their value? Like if it was -20% per level of Bad Grip to the value of those disadvantages, then they would reduce to -4/-3/-2 since as your ability to wield weapons diminished, you're losing less overall ability by having short/weak/non-attacking arms. The only problem I can see is people might not want to take 1 level of Bad Grip (one hand) as a quirk if it cost them 3 points worth in these other disadvantages, so maybe there is some other formula that can be used. Like if having ANY of these things (bad grip, no physical attack, short or weak) would count as a -20% mitigator towards the value of the others? |
