On the other hand, I can install software on my desktop or my tablet without needing to roll a Quick Contest of IQ vs. Will, or even an IQ roll with Complexity as a penalty. Is there an analog for a Digital Mind taking up residence in a digital environment?

Presumably anything with Reprogrammable, where you have access to a root password or the equivalent, cannot resist.

That is because you have administrative privileges on those machines. You would have a bit more difficultly installing software on any of my devices, and even more so remotely. Transhuman Space does this with Puppet.

While it's true that such a roll doesn't seem to represent anything in the situation, your desktop and tablet have IQ 0, thus Will 0, and thus have basically no chance to win such a contest.

If you don't have such privileges (legitimately or via prior computer intrusion) you can't use Possession (Digital) to begin with.

The contest of Computer Hacking versus Will or whatever presumably represents the intrusion...

Ah, correct. However, if the body you're possessing doesn't have a currently running AI it will have Will 0 and be unable to resist (Complexity is not a penalty to the Possession roll).

Now I'm remembering my supers campaign Sovereignty. One of the PCs was a telepath with Compartmentalized Mind, not always on. At one point, another, more powerful telepath was killed by his teammates. But she was able to insert herself into one of his compartments, keep it running, and hide there. . . .

Whatever rules you use for gaining the required computer access (there's a number of different rulesets for such things), doing so is separate from and prerequisite to using Possession.
