Enchantment / Limited Use
Has anyone seen anything like a limitation for enchantments that limit a magic item to # Uses per Day? The 'Limited Use' limitation for advantages is -40% for '1 Use per Day'. Does this sound reasonable? The item would still be permanently magical, it would simply work 'Once per day' or 'Twice per day' or whatever. And if the item casts the spell, then the wearer or user could maintain the spell if they pay the fatigue cost, meaning that spells like 'Warmth', that last for one hour, could be maintained all day long provided the wearer's activity level allowed the regaining of fatigue.
Any thoughts? |

Sounds like a valid use of Metatronic Generators to me.

houserule here, but I'd give either 40% off slow enchantment, or +4 to quick allowing 4 extra enchanters to contribute energy.

Re: Enchantment / Limited Use
The Exclusive Powerstone serves this function for Magic enchantments. Exclusive means the item can only be powered from its internal Powerstone. Make the size of the Powerstone equal to N times the cost of the spell (divided by three, 'cause Exclusive) to make it usable at most N times per day.

Although, an advanced form of the powerstone enchantment might be called for here...

Re: Enchantment / Limited Use
Briefly, "One Use Ever" is a x1/5 Limitation, and on weapons "One Use Ever" enchantments (that is, those applied to projectiles) look to be something like x1/10 to energy. So, every -4 SSR to cost by Limitations might be something like -6 SSR to cost for enchantments.
-40% is around -1.5 SSR, so -2.25 SSR might be appropriate here. That's somewhere around -55% to energy. You'll want to check GURPS Magic to see if other Limitations follow a similar trend (I don't much like the system; I'm eyeballing based on the prices given for enchantments in DF8). |
