The search function...
...is REALLY annoying sometimes. For instance, it doesn't recognize ""'s to mean "exactly this". The whole bit where it drops words that are too short - meaning I can include 'DR' in my search, regardless of the other terms, is pretty crippling.
In a current post, it was proposed that this forum is the repository for user-created traits in GURPS. Well, yes, but the indexing system....well, if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all. |

Re: The search function...
Staff has no control over the utility of the vBulletin search function, I'm afraid. It's a commercial software package, not something that was developed in-house.
However, if you check out the Stickied thread ("Search function for these Forums") about three posts above this one, there's a useful workaround that I use all the time.

Re: The search function...
I use Google to search the SJGames forums. You can specify a site as part of the search string, thus:
"what I want to find" site:forums.sjgames.com I do that with most forums, as very few forum developers have managed to implement a decent search function. |

Re: The search function...
Another useful search string to add for Google is allintitle: which searches page titles (and, thus, thread titles). e.g.:
allintitle:DR site:forums.sjgames.com
