Nice to check in and see the next edition is developing nicely.

I'm looking forward to introducing my son to a a new version of the game i played when i was young.

The old car creation math might be a bit much for him and his sister at 8 and 10.

Any images of the convention games?

Glad to see a new generation of Car Wars fans. The math wasn't that hard and learning math whilst young will save decades of anger and frustration later in life.

I'll have to see which ones pass muster [SJG has asked us to be careful about card text], but I've got a few on my phone from FnordCon.

thank you.

My son has been playing a Formula one based board game and has got quite good at it, and has just started with a WW2 coastal forces wargame, But his heart is with Cars for combat ever since i told him about carwars and made some sample cars up.

PLayed the new Car Wars at Origins, base game. You will all like the ease of movement, the tracking system for damage and the ability in the future to upgrade. The only comment I would make is make the base removable so you can upgrade the miniature if it already isn't. Didn't check that out.

In the final game, the cars are separate from the base. They'll snap on and off.

Car creation in the new edition is as simple as "You have X points to spend, here's a deck of cards to pick from"; each card has an associated cost, place it around the central 'dashboard' to denote where it is on the car, and it's off to the races.

I don't expect the younger child to really understand the synergies between various cards, but they also won't need to in order to just have fun smashing cars into one another...that kind of thing is really only needed when playing competitively.

I also note that in Phil's interview with Game Trade Magazine he says he will be playing Car Wars at Gen Con.

The Details blurb on the Facebook Event page mentions "many scheduled events over in Hall D highlighting the long gaming history of SJ Games including ... Car Wars". BUT I cannot find any Car Wars events on the Gen Con Schedule except the one RPG that isn't run by SJ Games. Not even any for the Car Wars card game (that has always been fun at Gen Con in the past).

Any chance of being able to demo Car Wars 6th ed at Gen Con on Saturday? Unfortunately I wasn't able to attend Origins this year and can only go to Gen Con on Saturday.

There will be a handful of opportunities to play the game in our Gen Con booth.
