I would cheerfully pay as much as I paid for the standard 4e GMs screen; no Lite and no Update easily compensates for Spiffy Kewl Map Poster. You could toss in a Lite with alternate fantasy art and "fantasy" fonts for headers I suppose, but the effort of the specialised Lite might not be worth it. It would be kewl though.

I'd have to go pull out my GMs screen (alas I'm at work) to see what I'd cut and what I'd replace it with... you definitely want Banestorm art on the back of course.

- A different font for headers to make it more fantasy-themed?
- Perhaps some margin art - the edge of parchment look? might be excessive.
- We absolutely want the critical spell failure chart on this screen. Heheheh.
- Perhaps a list of the various ranks and titles of address for us non-historians who get our barons and dukes mixed up and don't know how to refer to either beyond "politely".

I can't think of any other charts that are Banestorm specific, but my book is still waiting for Amazon.ca to find it in their warehouse :(

Mmmm, yes, that's the sort of thing I'd think of as useful.

Well, looking at the 4th ed screen, there are few things I would change, as the critical spell failure table is already there. Only the firearms malfunction table should be removed, and probably replaced with something banestorm specific...

In fact you only really need to change the art, and if it wouldn't increase the price by much, add some background image (a parchment border like Bruno proposed?) to the text areas, and you would be set...

I still don't own a copy, but I did get to flip through one. I can't comment on specific pieces, but the artwork in this book is definitely the strongest I've seen in a GURPS 4E book. The pictures are generally strong and unobtrusive, and though it's not exactly georgous, I definitely enjoyed it. I think it's a big improvement over the other books, and I hope this is the minimum standard held on all future releases.

Well, as one of the complainers I can only say that I'm waiting what is being done for Space and Interstellar Wars since my focus is generally on the scifi material. (I did get Magic to provide some ideas for converting from d20 Star Wars, looked it over in the wee hours of the morning, and what I saw pushed me over the edge.)

Since my FLGS usually only gets GURPS material if I order it I probably won't have a chance to see Banestorm in the forseeable future so here's my 2¢ based on the preview PDFs:

The cover is okay but I much prefer those for Characters, Campaigns, Magic, and Infinite Worlds. The only part that stood out a little to me was the the guy in the purple -- his panel added some needed energy to the cover.

I like the stylization of the maps, they brought to mind a little of the artwork for some of the LOTR paperback book covers from the late 60's/early 70's.

If I get a chance to see Banestorm I hope that I can make more positive comments than I did concerning some of the other books. I also hope that will be the case for Space and Interstellar Wars.

Yes. YES. I am. I picked up a copy the other day (for 92 cents thanks to a store credit at B&N!!! woo!) and I have to say the folks hit a home run with this baby! And this from a self-proclaimed hater of rpg art.
Good job folks! Thanks!

Updating as I finally got my copy. I likes it. Like everyone else, I'd love to have a big map, but I don't consider it a fatal flaw... and all the other artwork is good. Nothing leaps out at me as going down in the history of RPG artwork as a masterpiece, but it's all uniformly good. None of it made me wince, and thank GOD none of the WotC problem of finding some small piece of filler and using it REPEATEDLY *growl*.
