IQ 10 SPELLS

BOREDOM (T) This spell, when cast on a subject, adds (1d6) to their Boredom attribute for every ST the Wizard puts into the spell. Resisted by a SR 3/IQ .. a successful save indicates an increase of only 1 point of Boredom, no matter how much ST the Wizard put into the spell. Has no effect on creatures of IQ 3 or less, the undead, or on Prootwaddles. It can be reversed only by carousing (in the usual way), a successful casting of EXCITEMENT on the subject, or by a successful use of SEX APPEAL on the subject (in the usual way). A Wizard may cast this on themselves. Also, see MAGIC ITEMS.

Oh, wow… I think we just stumbled across a brilliant idea for a whole new game.

Ennui: The Game of Thrill-Seeking Adventure

Adventurers crave excitement, because nothing kills an Adventurer quicker than Boredom. Sitting around the tavern with nothing to do drives them insane, so they risk their lives on dangerous quests — the more dangerous, the better. Charging a horde of Goblins, raiding the tomb of the Lich Lord, facing off against a Dragon… anything that gets the adrenaline flowing, no matter the risk.

Because even Death would be better than staring into a cup of ale and listening to Thorgrim complain about his toenail fungus. Again.

So sharpen your warriors' swords, power up your wizards' staves, and go rushing headlong into danger. Fight off the Boredom, and give yourself a reason to keep living!

It's so "meta" it's scary. I call dibs. ;)

I'd back that kickstarter. Well maybe, I guess. Can we order another round of ale first?

Sounds like a better title might be "ADRENALINE JUNKIE!"

No joke, I had exactly the same thought. But that doesn't sound quite right for a Fantasy game.

Plus, I've always wanted to find a good use for the word "Ennui", which is otherwise insufferably pretentious.

Point taken! (Though I'm sure a couple of clever fellows like us can come up with some suitable "fantasy" variation of "adrenaline junkie"...)

ADRENALIKIN!!!!!! (See what I did there? ;-) )

Certain Diseases may cause fatigue to build up if a certain trigger is attained, like
Fibromyalgia.

Some other things might be:
heat stroke
bleeding
diarrea
smoke inhalation

…diarrhea…?

Brilliant!

If the Adventurers chose to stop at Grognard's Tavern for lunch before going on to the Caves of Doom, anybody who went for the All-You-Can-Eat 'Fresh' Mollusk Buffet must make a successful saving roll vs. ST to avoid Diarrhea (1 Fatigue).

A critical failure on that roll means Explosive Diarrhea: double the Fatigue, and another saving roll check every ten minutes to avoid soiling their armor. (Failure has no combat effect, but adds 1 to the character's permanent Humiliation score.)

"...what ELSE causes Fatigue?"

Children. Children cause fatigue.

Battle ought to be around three times as fatiguing as tunneling (have to move ones own body around, etc.) so charge one fatigue for every 60 turns of active combat.
