Re: Trucks, in Ogre
So my trucks arrived today. And man, the trucks are nice, but for whatever reason, they are huge. I already had the MAN 10 ton design here, so that's what I'm used to seeing. Both US and Russian designs are almost 25% taller than the MAN one, and half the length. They are almost the size of a HVY tank.

Re: Trucks, in Ogre
I can see an HEMTT being large, the one that threw me is the Russian KamAZ 6 wheel truck -- its footprint is as large as a GEV, and it is nearly as tall as the HVY. Even the US M1078 is pretty big compared to the HVY, and it's just a four wheel truck.

Re: Trucks, in Ogre
Military trucks do tend to be big. I learned to drive the FMTV line while I was in the Army, and they're far larger than you might think for "medium" trucks. They are comparable in length and height to an M1 Abrams, though narrower. The real heavy vehicles quickly get monstrous; the Russians have a bunch of outright enormous transport vehicles.
It's really not that weird if you think of just how big a regular tractor-trailer is. We're used to them, so we don't give them much thought, remember that they're something like 70 feet long and eleven high! |

Re: Trucks, in Ogre
I should also point out that in wartime, transport gets scrounged up from Wherever, captured vehicles get reused, and so on. If you wind up with an assortment of different truck miniatures, that's perfectly authentic.
So, while I do have trucks on my own wish list for a later plastic set, don't let that stop you from investing in some of the very fine stuff already out there. |

Re: Trucks, in Ogre
Yet another option, picture on BGG:
https://www.boardgamegeek.com/article/27706540#27706540 I shall note, if trucks do get made by SJG as part of the minis line, I'll snag them, but up until then, proxies will have to do. I'll further note, this same firm has an M1 Abrams, it may be worthwhile for "archaic armor" as well. Last edited by Mack_JB; 12-14-2017 at 11:28 AM. |

I'll be using Brigade's pieces to proxy for minor powers like Israel and China.
