Disambiguating base cards from expansions
I need to split 2 copies of the Munchkin basic set (one of the earlier printings) from the sleeved versions of Unnatural Axe & Clerical Errors (not the current tuck boxes). Some cards appear in multiple sets, generally with unique pictures.
So, can anyone tell me which version of the card appears in which set (all D unless indicated): Cheat! (all 3) Cleric (all 3) Curse! Lose 1 Big Item (base & UA) Curse! Lose 1 Small Item (base & UA) Dwarf (all 3) Elf (all 3) Half-breed (all 3) Halfling (all 3) Hireling (base & CE) (T) Loaded Die (all 3) (T) Orc (base & CE) Super Munchkin (all 3) Thief (all 3) Undead (UA & CE) Wandering Monster (all 3) Warrior (all 3) Wishing Ring (all 3) (T) Wizard (all 3) I'm pretty sure the items and the curses aren't unique, and pretty sure the class/race cards are all unique, but can't remember about the rest. Cheers! |

Re: Disambiguating base cards from expansions
Unless you have a super early printing, cards from Unnatural Axe and Clerical Errors have icons on the bottom that indicate they're from the that expansion.

Re: Disambiguating base cards from expansions
I 'have no icons on my cards, so I think they must have been very early printings. I'm looking at the 'Awful Socks' and the bottom of the card is 'Footgear' and '200 Gold Pieces'.

You could also use the Card List for Each Expansion.

Re: Disambiguating base cards from expansions
I've done some more sorting out:
The Hireling card basic set is a big guy carrying (among other things) a large bag marked swag, the CE version is a slender female in a maid outfit The Loaded Die appears to be the same across all basic and expansions The Wishing Ring: warrior with duck on shield (2), tonsured cleric in robe (2), female wizard with staff (UA), orc in loincloth (CE) So I am going to guess that where I have the same card twice, it's the basic version, and singletons come from the expansion. (Fortunately, each expansion was mixed with a single basic set so they're relatively well split, but unfortunately, I didn't note which basic set came with which expansion.) To also note the age of my sets: the card illustrations are not full colour - they're brown-scale. |

Re: Disambiguating base cards from expansions
I am now down to 4 cards from the two expansions:
Undead: Zombie monster transfixed by a sword Skeleton goldfish in a bowl (probably CE as Goldfish is one of the monsters from this set) Wizard (both male): Wizard knocked off feet by blast spell, hat sent flying Wizard holding wand with star (looks a bit like Mickey Mouse from Fantasia) Warrior: What can only be described as a conehead armed with a sword and spear Female warrior with sword and shield Thief: Orc assassin-style thief with straight dagger (possibly UA as that is when Orcs were introduced) Human thief with curved dagger and spiked helmet So if anyone can confirm which card belongs to which expansion I'd be grateful... |

I think, identifying one of each pair should be efficient enough... ;)
