Default Delayed vs. persistent Curses

Is a curse with a delayed effect considered a persistent curse?

I ask because my friend had a curse on him which forced him to help the next player who asked for no reward.

I then happen to encounter a monster who had a bonus against any player being affected by a persistent curse.

I asked my friend to help but we were not sure if the monster should get the bonus because....

The curse could be considered over once I asked for help

and also because

I generally consider persistent curses to mean they have a continued negative effect until removed by a Wishing Ring, rather than just a delayed one time effect.

So what exactly constitutes a persistent curse?

And if this curse is a persistent curse, at what point would the curse be considered over?

This would not be a persistent curse I believe because the effect ends after the next combat. It is just a reminder that it is there until the next combat, you actually took the curse on your turn.

A persistent Curse is one that continues to have an active effect until it is canceled. A Curse that is waiting for a trigger to take a one-time effect is not persistent.
