Spells or Powers for a Cleric of a Luck Goddess?

I'm at work right now and don't have my books on me. (I assume there are folks that will point me to DF: Clerics.)

I'm in the middle of crafting a 150 point TL4 cleric of a luck goddess (Tyche, the pantheon's trickster goddess) to use as a basis for a short story or series of shorts. He'll actually be a priest in a temple dedicated to the entire pantheon, but Lady Luck has blessed/cursed him with her patronage. (This is not dungeon fantasy, but rather for my Ranoc setting; I'm willing to use DF books as a resource, but the character is not a delver.)

So far, I've got ~50 points left over for spells/powers; he has Clerical Investment, Religious Rank 3 (using Pulling Rank rules), and Power Investiture 3 already covered. Combat skills are Brawling-12, Judo-12, and Shortsword-12; armor is basically non-existent at the moment, as it'd be an urban "campaign".

Should I pull out Divine Favor or DF: Clerics? If either, which spells or abilities would you recommend?


(The other members of the "party" are a ropemaker/swashbuckler, refugee martial artist, and aspiring engineer/arcane spellcaster with spells from the Earth, Metal, and Making & Breaking colleges.)

Afflict Serendipity seems like the obvious choice

Explain "Defensive Luck"? I don't think I've seen that term before.

I would play with Impulse Buys, Power Ups Impluse Bys and Impulse Ctonrol from the Secrets issue of Pyramid with refresh being partly tied to religious devotion and deeds.

Luck, with the Defensive (-20%) modifier. Limits luck to active defence rolls, resistance rolls, HT rolls to resist the effects of injury, and opponent's critical hits on you. On page 66 in Characters.

How does clerical magic work in the setting?

Incidentally my "Clerics of Order and Chaos" article has some Luck-based holy abilities and spell selections that might be worth looking at, depending on the answer to the above question.

Basically, the deities grant spells or abilities to their chosen faithful, generally those who are lower in the church hierarchy or outside it (as those who are bishops or higher are essentially political appointments, the higher up in the hierarchy you get the less likely you are to have Power Investiture).

Some deities give Divine Favor (warrior gods are fond of this). Others give various spells or abilities with the Divine (-10%) power modifier from various Powers that fit their profile (a sky god would permit abilities from the Air or Lightning Powers; a sea god might give from the Water, Weather Control, or Animal Control Powers, the latter with a focus on marine life; etc.).
