Adding swithable to the power would be perfectly reasonable. Since you, the afflictor are the one in charge of how the ability works, it would leave you in charge of its switchable nature. So, sure, tack on 10% Switchable and have a ball! Or, if you have a lazy GM, such as me, then you just get to end your own power effects whenever you feel like it at no extra cost.

I know it's not exactly appropriate, since you're not switching your ability to use the affliction on and off. But it sure sounds right...
It is more powerful than switchable as you can choose it after you use the ability.

10 %, 5 %, tomato, tomato :D

What I mean is if it is not THAT important, THAT unbalancing or if it is not going to become a routine exploit of the power (I cannot imagine how) then I don't think it would make much difference... I wouldn't allow it as a freebie (it is a transient power after all, it's duration may be an inconvenience from time to time) but a 5 - 10 % enhancement seems enough. Again, this is assuming there isn't any issues with this that may grossly unbalance things...

Cheers...

Well that an affliction takes always full duration is an inherent feature of affliction, removing one of those is Cosmic +50%...

That sounds exactly right, given the text quoted from Powers. Variable should only allow for stating a maximum duration before attacking, while Switchable would let it be turned off any time. LGTM... I'll use +10% from now on.

Uhm... Yes, this certainly leaves no RAW argument but don't you think it would be a bit expensive in some cases?

Cheers...

So normaly Afflictions are ALways On? Not by and ruleing I have seen. What Switchable does is it lets you take a power that is normaly always on and let you turn it off. Specificaly things like DR, claws and extra limbs.

Check Powers under Healing. If you have the Cure Afflictions or the affliction only modifiers on your Healing ability, you can remove the effects of afflictions. The penalty depends on the percentage of the enhancement of the effect you wish to remove. I don't have my books with me right now, sorry.

Of course... that is just the rules... I would let you switch it off for free if it suits your power...

Careful with those... they might go off *worry*

*ahem* What you said... It's a minor enhancement, so anything less than +20% should be playable.
