Default Is force field switchable?

Quick question...

Does DR (Force Field, +20%) normally include switchable? Or do you have to purchase Switchable separately, and the force field is Always On, which might be rather inconvenient. (If it is automatically switchable, and it's normally not on, Reflexive, +40% would allow it to snap it on as necessary.)

DR is normally Always On, a passive advantage, but most stories involving force fields suggest that they would be switchable by default.

Any ideas on this?

Mark

Normally, DR is always on and has no downsides. So, Forcefield without switchable would just be an always on DR that protects your stuff too. If you want it to have annoying issues give it a nuisance effect, or be able to let someone give you flu shots, you probably need switchable.

That should be right. The generic Force Field enhancement shouldn't change the temporal nature of the underlying advantage, IMO.

Okay. Makes sense. I just didn't know if Force Field included Switchable automatically or if you had to purchase it separately.

DR 10 (Force field, +20%) [60]

DR 10 (Force field, +20%; Switchable, +10%) [65]

DR 10 (Force field, +20%; Switchable, +10%; Normally off and switches off if you sleep or lose consciousness, +0%; Directional, -20%) [55] <-- for a force field that you have to turn on, and which shuts off if you sleep or get knocked out, and which only protects you from the front

"Switches off while you are unconscious" is a -10% Accessibility (see this post).

DR 10 (Force field, +20%) [60]:
You are always covered with aura of protection. You enjoy your DR even when a foe makes a surprise attack on you while you are asleep, but you'll have trouble having medicine injected, taking surgery, etc.

DR 10 (Force field, +20%; Switchable, +10%; Accessibility, Switches off while you are unconscious, -10%) [60]:
You are usually covered with aura of protection, but it conks out when you fall unconscious.

DR 10 (Force field, +20%; Switchable, +10%) [65]:
You are covered with aura of protection, and you are allowed a choice to be covered or not to be covered.
