Default Conventions in page numbers

Is there some convention for choosing page numbers for data file page() tags? If I use "DM6" format for GURPS Magical Styles Dungeon Magic, page 6, how do I know that there isn't some GURPS Dinosaur Mecha book out there? Is there like a master list somewhere, with official abbreviations as there was in 3e? Just curious, and eager to make something that people can use without too much confusion.

There's no particular convention or "official" list, nor is there likely to be, as GURPS 4th Edition doesn't officially use page abbreviations. GCA uses them because of the necessity to fit large amounts of information in the small form factor of a character sheet printout.

The official GCA page abbreviation list can be found in the FAQ.

Abbreviations not up to date or I cannot find the latest update.

So what does (page GT163) mean?

That was the 3e era abbreviation for GURPS Traveller.

It would appear that I never noticed that the author of the datafile for Thaumatology 4e - Path-Book Magic used GT for GURPS Thaumatology instead of the designated Th (which I had chosen to avoid confusion with the GURPS Traveller abbreviation which was used for 3e Traveller).
