Default In Nomine Anime setting: Grigori High

Here's a setting I invented last December for In Nomine Anime. The PCs are celestials with Roles as pupils (or potentially their pets) at Grigori High, a typical Japanese magical girls' school. It should soon become apparent that the game is intended to be played at a high brightness, low contrast, and the humour turned all the way up to garish.

Grigori High is a boarding school for teenage girls with unusual powers. (Including the ability to pronounce the name of the place. In accordance with the law of inverse dignity, high-ranking NPCs such as government ministers and Superiors have increasing difficulty with the name.) The establishment is funded by the Japanese government, which has an obvious interest in keeping supernatural adolescents from disrupting normal life. Various secretive agencies also hope the girls can be trained to serve their country as soldiers, secret agents, crime-fighters and/or geisha.

Heaven and Hell both find it useful to conceal the exact nature of the school and cover up any little accidents that may occur there. The teaching staff is composed entirely of nuns, from an order controlled by Laurence. Presumably a few are Soldiers of the Sword, and it is likely that Dominic, Asmodeus and others have agents among the students. However, Celestials are not allowed (except for Remnants), and any who are discovered are liable to be vessel-killed. The punishment for any boys found on the premises is also corporeal and traumatic.

Default secret rules

There are also a number of details of the setting the players don't know.
Spoilers begin here.
  • All of the teaching staff are Soldiers of Laurence (and thus Symphonically aware).
  • They are also all highly skilled martial artists (yes, that Bruce).
  • Numinous Corpus: tentacles is not such a good idea. Remember Laurence's Word?
  • Most, if not all of the Superiors have covert agents among the girls. Some are better-hidden than others.
  • There is little physical danger. The greatest risks are of exposure or humiliation.

Spoilers end here.

Does it mean there's something wrong with me that I immediately thought that it would be fun to play a boy under some sort of Ranmaesque sex-change curse?

Not a girl, with the equal and opposite sort of curse?

*evil grin*

Botched Song of Numinous Corpus. Interventions explain everything.

Ah, I'd better not let slip the plotline about the fight with the ninja in the boiler room, causing great localised destruction and the sudden loss of hot water to the entire school. Right in the middle of post-martial arts class showers.

Funny, I was immediatly thinking of a boy cross-dressed as a girl because his mother, being two bricks short of a wall, insisted on it...

Also good, but for 'mother', read 'Superior'. Not to be confused with Mother Superior, of course.
